Berlin, January 29, 2025 – Berlin-based pioneer in robotic exoskeletons, German Bionic, presents the Apogee ULTRA, the world’s most powerful commercially available exoskeleton, at FRUIT LOGISTICA, Messe Berlin, 5-7 February 2025. The most important international trade fair for the fresh fruit and produce industry, FRUIT LOGISTICA covers the entire value chain of the fruit and vegetable industry – providing a natural setting for demonstrating the many applications for robotic exoskeletons when moving heavy fruit and vegetable crates. The Apogee ULTRA supports workers with every lifting movement with extra power of up to 36 kilograms – fully connected, ergonomic, and safe. In this way, it improves occupational safety in physically demanding workplaces. Last year, the Apogee, which is already being successfully deployed in the industry, was nominated for the FLIA Technology Award 2024, which the trade show presents to honor innovations in the field of machinery and technology.
Fruit Logistica 2025: German Bionic presents the world’s most powerful exoskeleton in Berlin
Following its successful debut at the leading US tech trade show CES, the Apogee ULTRA can now be experienced in Europe for the first time. Offering up to 36 kilograms of weight compensation, flexible deployment, full connectivity and OTA updates, the robotic e-exoskeleton sets a new standard for the safe and supported lifting and movement of heavy objects – such as fruit and vegetable crates. Fruit Logistica visitors can see and experience it for themselves at the German Bionic stand, Messe Berlin, Hall 21, C-30.

The Apogee ULTRA offers dynamic support of up to 36 kilograms when lifting, as well as assisting druing walking and carrying. In additionally relieves the lower back during activities in bent-over positions. This makes it suitable for a maximum range of tasks and work environments, improving the health, safety, and well-being of people working in physically demanding occupations, as is the case in the fruit and vegetable industry.
Additional strength, smoother transitions, greater sensitivity
The new UItra mode provides users with addtional boost of power when they need it most in their daily work during particualrl challanges tasks. Furthermore, the latest improvements also enable smoother transitions between support modes and greater sensitivity that allows it to respond to the smallest movements. Together it ensures the working day can be mastered more safely, easily and efficiently. All new Apogee ULTRA features are also available for existing Apogee models via the latest OTA update.
Use cases: Fruit and vegetable crates, potato sacks, and other boxes and loads
Many use cases exist for the robotic e-exoskeleton in the fruit and vegetable industry. Moving heavy fruit and vegetable crates, potato sacks or other loads is usually very physically demanding for packers. Every day, thousands of items each weighing 20 kilograms and often more, must be picked and lifted, carried and moved – from one pallet to another.
“The Apogee ULTRA ensures that manual work such as picking fruit and vegetable crates and sacks is safer, less strenuous and consequently more sustainable and appealing, both for existing employees and those seeking employment – while also increasing productivity,” says Armin G. Schmidt, CEO of German Bionic.
But the Apogee ULTRA is more than just a high-performance robotic exoskeleton. It offers data-driven analysis for companies, enabling them to identify, implement and uphold their occupational safety measures over the long term. It is designed as a highly adaptive support system that uses machine learning technology to adapt to the individual needs of the user.
Artificial intelligence is also used. With the intuitive AI-controlled functions, the robotic exoskeleton adapts to the individual lifting style, physiology and activities of the respective user based on real usage data. This creates an optimal user experience that laboratory data cannot replicate.
Future-proof solution with 360-degree human augmentation
The Apogee ULTRA is based on the experience of its predecessors. Continuous development is driven by extensive high-quality data from real-world applications. AI and machine learning ensure constant adaptation to users. Unlike passive systems, the connected design is always up to date thanks to regular over-the-air updates, providing a future-proof solution for the workplace.
The Apogee ULTRA is part of German Bionic’s 360-degree human augmentation solution. In addition to the exoskeleton and the German Bionic Connect app fir users, it includes the German Bionic IO data insight platform and other human-machine interfaces. The connection to the cloud-based German Bionic IO platform makes occupational safety measurable and clear. The German Bionic Connect app provides detailed insights into individual data and enables direct feedback, thereby maximizing safety, performance and acceptance.
